Licensed in Florida, Texas & New York
Josette is the founder of TruSounds of Wellness and a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) licensed in Florida, Texas, and New York.
Her path into mental health care began outside of clinical practice, working as a billing and collections analyst, where she gained insight into the complexities of the healthcare system. She later pursued nursing, starting as an LPN and advancing her education to earn a dual master's degree in Executive Nursing Leadership and an MBA.
Mental health has always been personal — with its presence in her own family. That experience, combined with her clinical background, led her to psychiatric care, where she now focuses on providing compassionate, patient-centered treatment that honors the whole person.

Get to Know Josette
What was your path to becoming a mental health provider?
My path into mental health care began outside of clinical practice, working as a billing and collections analyst, where I gained insight into the complexities of the healthcare system. I later pursued nursing, starting as an LPN and advancing my education to earn a dual master's degree in Executive Nursing Leadership and an MBA. I believed strong leadership could create meaningful change, but after navigating the realities of corporate healthcare, my path shifted. Mental health has always been personal, with its presence in my own family. That experience, combined with my clinical background, led me to psychiatric care, where I now focus on providing compassionate, patient-centered treatment that honors the whole person.
What should someone know about working with you?
Working with me is a collaborative and transparent experience. Our initial 60-minute evaluation is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and assess whether we're a good fit. During this time, we discuss roles, expectations, treatment goals, and I take time to answer any questions you may have. I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and respected. Most clients begin to notice positive changes within a few weeks of starting care, as our therapeutic relationship develops.
How do you continue learning and building new skills?
I consider myself a lifelong student and am deeply committed to continuous learning. I regularly engage in continuing education through professional memberships and conferences, advanced training courses, podcasts, and ongoing review of evidence-based research. I'm especially interested in emerging treatments and integrative approaches that improve outcomes while minimizing medication burden.
What does real success look like in mental health treatment?
Success is helping someone move from wanting to give up on life to finding hope, purpose, and reasons to smile again. It's watching a patient regain confidence, rebuild relationships, and rediscover joy. That transformation — however small or large — is why I do this work.
